Project network test higways

This project involves a series of tests to detect the road signal coverage for the networks of mobile operators throughout Southern Italy. We use smartphones with Rohde & Schwarz technology and scanners, to analyze coverage and interference and to evaluate the goodness of the configuration of the cells recorded during the paths.

What do we analyze? Events (failures and/or call drops, low download, low upload, low coverage), interference signal (multiple signals that arrive in a single geographical area produce noise phenomena that lower the quality of service).

The test results are analysed to assess the prospects for improved coverage and quality of service, making hardware and/or software changes to transmission systems.

What can the changes consist of?

  • Upgrading/De-powering a site.
  • Increase/decrease of tilt and detection of cell inversions.
  • Reorientation of the cells
  • Adding new cells on existing sites
  • Adding technology layers on existing sites
  • Create a new site.
